Cedar Rapids, Iowa - July 18, 2008 – A flood of fundraising over the July fourth weekend shored up more than good music and food. The Floodstock 2008 flood relief benefit concert raised $100,000 to benefit local flood relief and recovery efforts in Linn County.
The fundraising amount was announced this afternoon at a 2 p.m. press conference and check presentation at the Marion City Hall by Floodstockorganizers. “On behalf of Floodstock, we are pleased to be making a significant donation to area flood victims. It was truly amazing to see our community come together to create an event of such magnitude in such a short amount of time”, stated Jill Hanna, Floodstock committee member and president of the Marion Chamber of Commerce.
Approximately 5,000 people attended Floodstock 2008 that featured local music artists and food vendors. Proceeds from the three-day event will be split between The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation Flood 2008 Fund and the Job and Small Business Recovery Fund established by the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce in partnership with The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation.

The Flood 2008 Fund of The Greater Cedar Rapids Community Foundation is for flood relief and recovery donations. Job and Small Business Recovery Fund was established by the Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce to provide financial assistance through outright grants and 0% interest forgivable loans to a small for-profit business (person or entity that sells goods or services) and/or the owner of commercial property in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, that has sustained uninsured physical damage as a result of the Flood of 2008. The Cedar Rapids Area Chamber of Commerce will accept applications from and award grants to qualified local businesses with less than 50 full time equivalent employees that intend to reopen and/or rebuild their business in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
